2 · Font & legends

Font preset

Loading Hack Nerd Font…

Missing-glyph fallback · Nerd first Characters missing from the selected face are tried in this Nerd Font first, then Symbols Nerd Font Mono, then Noto Sans Symbols 2 only as a final Unicode safety net.

Custom TTF / OTF / WOFF Optional. Presets load lazily only when selected; custom fonts use the same Nerd-first fallback chain.

One key per line

A plain line is one legend. Spaces split a line into 2–3 independent legends on the same cap: ! 1. Use [raw]Space Bar[/raw] when a literal space belongs to one legend. Review All can assign a built-in font per key; it writes a portable prefix such as [font=monocraft] ! 1. The Nerd picker prepends each selected symbol as its own new key at the top.

Add key groups

Appends one key per line. Numbers + shifted pairs use two legends per key (top symbol / bottom number) and auto-switch the layout to Stack. Rows grow automatically when the current grid is too small.

Key tilt X°78° is the default key tilt. It maps directly to a −78° local X pose, then a separate 180° bed-facing yaw makes the finished key face printer Front (−Y).

Bed strategy

Load a cap to calculate its exact rotated lowest vertex.

Sink into bed mm The cap is lowered by this amount, then everything below Z=0 is actually removed. The removed volume is rendered red.

Cap pre-height above bed mm

Cradle Z resolution mm Smaller = smoother/closer fit, but more raft bands. 0.10 mm is the new default.

Cap clearance XY mm

The cap's exact lowest point is placed at the pre-height above the BED. Above that base, the raft follows horizontal slices of the actual tilted cap at the selected Z resolution. Each support band gets its own clearance-expanded pocket, so the cradle tracks the cap as it moves sideways with Z. The visible steps are these support bands; lower the Z resolution for a smoother cradle.

Raft preview is automatic whenever Shared raft is active.

Raft preview uses the same height-sliced cradle algorithm as Build CSG, but skips all legend Booleans.

Build once to calculate bed-contact area and the printability rating.

5 · Legend geometry

Sliders are for visual tuning; the number beside each slider is the exact value used for build/export.

Size & fit Set the intended legend size and its fit envelope.

Shrink oversized legends to fit Follow actual cap surface

Surface samples per axis Ray-samples the upright source cap under the legend before making the cutter.

Stroke Adjust the font outline itself before the cutter is made.

Legend weight / embolden mm

0 mm preserves the font’s native stroke. Positive grows the outline; negative thins it.

Weight corner style Round is the best general default; use Miter when you want deliberately sharp corners.

Position Move the complete legend across the cap face.

Shape & surface Stretch the legend or move it relative to the sampled cap surface.

Cutter depth Controls how the legend body intersects the cap.

Mirror legend X On by default for the upright source-cap convention. The 180° bed-facing yaw handles printer direction; this mirror keeps the legend readable from Front.

The cutter starts above the cap and extends down into it. Intersection creates the conformal legend body; subtraction creates the matching socket.
